We were strolling through the streets of Helsinki without destination, enjoying the warm summer atmosphere and some warm Vodka with Coke. This extremely popular but still underrated drink once again displayed its true power to transform even the most clueless night to a reckless party.

Iron Maiden was visiting Finland and we ended up to the outskirts of Olympic Stadium, where they were playing. Personally not liking the music genre in question at all the visit concentrated of observing the crowd. Black band t-shirts everywhere, beer tummies, punk hairdos and one terribly drunk girl filled the view. As disgusting as the situation at that precise moment was, it was the turning point of the evening. Irritating, too drunk and not exactly the most prettiest girl harassing us made us start drinking our magic drink before we had to make an important strategic move and leave the place.

A few hours more magic drinks of different calibers and we were ready to hit the centre of Helsinki. It was 01.30 at night and we had no idea where to go and no clue if some of our friends were in town, as we thought it would bee too late to contact people. Due to some random Facebook event-invites and the good location, it ended up to be rather obvious for us to enter “SummerHeat” -party at the legendary old student house next to Stockmann.

Disregarding the lame party name and underlining the fact that I didn’t pay anything to enter, we were surprised by the amount of people and the good party vibe all around. What surprised us most was the presence of a foam party, and not exactly the regular one consisting of a small plastic pool with some foam on the bottom. This time the whole terrace, one of the best terrace-locations in Helsinki, was full of foam, hip-height at some points. After drinking shots and bonding with some random girls for couple of hours we were completely in foam ourselves and as it was closing time for the place we decided to walk home.

This time our plan was to go home without any huge stunts as it was Friday and the main party night of this weekend was scheduled for Saturday. Anyhow, we had to walk through the fountain in front of the new building of Finnish Parliament to clear our shoes of the foam. Then, walking past the Finlandia Hall we saw a pleasant and heart-warming scene in a pool situated next to it. We were already totally wet because of the foam so we had no alternative solutions as we saw three people swimming in the pool, we had to join them. First we were going to do only a discreet dip into the pool avoiding disturbing the people and wear our boxers, but as it would have been a point of laughter we had to follow the ideology of Fountainstrike and go naked. There was a very positive girl and her two friends, who were great swimming company. The girl said this was about her 25th time to swim in that pool, but it was first time for the boys to swim in any pool or fountain. This of course was a good motivator for us to seek and strike more and more fountains in the near future. We were also reminded that besides being very fun it can be very useful and smart to swim in random fountains after club nights, as it was a great way great to clear the foam away.

All in all, this was fourth fountainstrike in Helsinki this summer, surely not the last one!
